For information, call Gloria @ 641-660-5309.

Nomination ballots for Elder and Deacon have been mailed.  Please return them to church and put them in the ballot box by Sunday, October 2.  If you did not receive yours or if you did not receive enough ballots, please see a current elder or Pastor Todd to get more.

We have the opportunity to bless the ministry of Youth for Christ by providing snacks/drinks for their Club meeting on Wednesday evenings.  They expect 35-40 kids each week, so you can imagine the amount of food and drink a group like that consumes!!  There is a sign-up sheet in the entryway for you to indicate what you’re willing to provide.  When you bring the items, please place them in the tote in the kitchen.  If you prefer to make homemade items, please have them at church by October 2.  If you prefer to make a financial donation for items to be purchased, there is an envelope in the tote where you can place them.  Checks can be written to Women’s Ministry.  If you have questions, please contact Janet Overbergen at 780-6567.  Thank you for blessing this ministry in this way!!

Lee and Deb Kerndt have changed their email address to leedebkerndt@gmail.com. They no longer have a landline, so please use their cell phone numbers to contact them.

Leighton Lions will be holding a blood donation drive at Leighton CRC on Monday, September 19 from 1:30-6:00 pm.  To schedule an appointment, please contact Gary Vandenburg at 641-780-0694 or at visit www.bloodcenter.org to schedule online.

Update from Love, INC:  Summer is winding down and fall schedules are here.  The newsletter is on the table in the entryway.  If you’re interested in volunteering at their Mahaska Connect event, please sign up on their website. A flyer with additional information on volunteering is also available on the table in the entryway.  This year they are also able to offer an Expungement Clinic through Iowa Legal Aid at the Mahaska Connect event. This allows some prior convictions, if allowed, to be removed from their record. Many times, this becomes a barrier to employment and housing resources.

Joe Brummel will be taking some Central College students to Love Packages in Illinois during their fall break to do some volunteer work for them.  They would like to take along any Bibles and/or Christian literature that we are no longer using.  As you rummage through your house (and the church), if there is anything you’re willing to donate, please have it at the church by October 10th.  They do not accept records, cassette tapes, Guideposts, secular books or Mission magazines.  Thank you!!!

Ships don’t sink because of the water around them. Ships sink because of the water that gets in them.  Don’t let what’s happening around you get inside you and weigh you down.
